COMPONENTS
* 1 Medium-sized shell (preferably fan-shaped, with both halves. If you don't have both halves of one shell, you can use two that are as similar in size as possible. Alternatively, a spiral or conch shell would work as well)
* Link to target
* Candle in color you associate with emotions in general
* SHIELD [TARGET'S] HEART sigilized into a glyph
* Paint or permanent marker in color associated with protection
PROCEDURE
1. Cleanse shell however you see fit.
2. Envision/feel protective energy surrounding and infusing the shell.
3. Draw the glyph on the shell, chanting:
"This shell a shield to protect the heart. Let no spell break through."
4. Light candle
5. Place link inside the shell, saying:
"Into this shell I place [Target's] heart, to be shielded from all manipulation. [Target's] emotions will remain his/her own, changeable by no one but [target]."
6. Pour wax around the edges of one of the fan shell halves, and seal the other on top of it. Use wax around the outside edge as well, smearing it to make it smooth (BE CAREFUL DOING THIS. you may want to use a Popsicle stick or something similar instead of your finger, to avoid burning.) If using a spiral or conch shell, pour wax into the opening, pressing down a few times to make sure it's tight.
7. OPTIONAL: make a petition to a deity associated with love and/or emotions to bless the talisman.
8. Keep in a safe place, cool and dry. This can also be given to the target.
A variant can be done to help those who are empathic from the bombardment of other people's feelings. In step 3, chant, "This shell is a shield to protect the heart. Let no spell break through. Let no external emotion break through."
