Resources and Advice

My parents won't let me be a witch!
The truth of the matter is, if you are in your parents home, you must follow their rules. Despite what certain LooLoo authors ($RW) tell you, it is NOT a good idea to sneak around behind your parents' back. Paganism will always be there. And most respectable teachers or covens won't touch a minor with a 10 foot pole. Anyone who does offer to teach or initiate you without parental consent is probably someone to avoid. Adults can be prosecuted on "corruption of a minor" charges if they are caught helping a minor sneak around. And doing things behind your parent's back is a sure fire way for them to assume that witchcraft is dangerous, illegal, and satanic. If you feel you cannot responsibly share your religious choice with your parents, you are probably not responsible enough to be casting spells and whatnot anyway. Talk to your parents. They might even buy you those books. If not, follow this advice, given by Kali:

I'm being persecuted!
Ask yourself: Are you really? Or is it your attitude? Witches were burned for hundreds of years so those mean old Christians attacking you too? Before you scream "witch hunt" keep in mind, most out-of-the-broomcloset witches have never been harassed because of their religion. Even in small, southern towns in the Bible belt. Yes, that's right. You CAN be open about your religious choices and not harmed. And don't start squawking about those evil Christians. Enough of them were fed to the lions by pagans. I know I have had my fill. So you might stop trying to send them up as scapegoats. Just a thought.

And in case you actually are being persecuted, this is the site for pagans in the military. They tend to keep up with all the actual Federal laws on this.

I need a Teacher!
Well, actually, you probably don't. If you are interested in becoming Wiccan, you need to find a coven accepting new members. Then they'll teach you what you need to know. If you plan on continuing down a solitary path, books and message boards should really do the trick. At least until you are more familiar with the Pagan community. Well, where can you find a coven? Or how can you meet members of your pagan community? Try one of these links.

Witches Voice
Look under "Networking". They list groups and individuals by state then city. This covers all pagans.

Covenant of the Goddess
Look under "Councils". They have a few. COG is a Wiccan site.
